Does anyone have any tips for hunting managed waterfowl areas?
Going to hunt the Shiawasse State Refuge this weekend for the first time. I've been a waterfowl hunter for years, but on private land, or out in the great lakes where it's possible to stay away from people. Here in Michigan, the game areas get hunted hard, and was wondering if there are certain decoy spreads, how many dekes, or other ideas that might make this hunt more successful. I've heard that less decoys are better, and I've heard that more are better. I've also heard that traditional decoy placement isn't effective in these areas after the first few days. Also, spinning wing decoys are not allowed. Any tips would be appriciated.

I have hunted there, but it was 15 years ago or so. The only thing I can tell you is to wear a hooded jacket so when the ******* who setup too close to you shoot you can pull it over your head so shot does not go down your shirt. I don't know about decoy setups there I only went once and used a few standard decoys and only got one bird since the ******* setup so close to use they got first shot at the birds coming in and scared most of them off.
