What are some post-op safe ways to get energy out of a puppy?

My 6 month old puggle (pug x beagle) puppy was neutered yesterday, but today he's pretty much back to his old self. The vet has recommended we take him for no more than a couple of 10 minute walks a day, which we're going to try to stick to. Trouble is he's used to walking for at least 90 mins, on top of playing with other dogs! He doesn't deal very well with being cooped up, and obviously it's not good for him to be jumping around the house with too much energy either. What ways did you find to keep your dog entertained?

It's a puppy, and the mixes suggest active, but "yesterday" suggests you might have asked the vet about healing and stitches and a 90 minute walk, while tiring for any dog is a bit long, though it will deplete their energy. I wouldn't walk mine for 90 minutes, although they certainly enjoy being outdoors, exploring, sniffing, marking. The healing time for the surgery is pretty standard, and not knowing the after surgery procedures on the vet, they should have advised you. "Seems back to his old self" is driven by instinct. He doesn't realize he can't mate, but he can experience pain and damage from too much activity after only 1 day. Try to remember "You" are the care giver, as well as the boss. Get the dog used to a gradual building up schedule.

Train his MIND... all dogs get tired with lots of mental stimulation.

90 mins for a 6 month old pug / beagle is a LOT of exercise on those joints !

Honestly you can probably take him for a bit longer walks, a vet may recommend this because he doesn't want you to disrupt any clots, however if he is going to be very active anyway taking him for longer walks is safer. Call your vet in the morning to be sure.
