Why are books by Frank Cottrell Boyce listed under C for Cottrell?

His name is not hyphenated, but it is treated as such. What is the history of this name? Is Cottrell Boyce the full surname? Why is there a two word surname?

I guess that Frank Cottrell Boyce is his nom de plume rather than his legal name, there are kids (presumably his) registered with the surname as just Boyce and mother's maiden name as Cottrell.

In some instances it is hyphenated. He is a living person and has a right to privacy. If you can't find the answers with a internet search and his own blogs and interviews then he doesn't want the information out there.

A preference adopted by the family.
