can you help me with math?
1. What is the slope of the line through the points (2, 0) and (3, -3)? m = _?_
2. What is the slope of the line for the equation x = 5?
5
zero
undefined
none of the above
3. Write the equation of the line given the slope and the y-intercept. Type your answer in the box without skipping any spaces. m = 2, y-intercept (0, 3)
4. Write the equation of the line given the slope and a point on the line. Type your answer in the box without skipping any spaces. m = 7, point (-2, 0)

Definition of slope:
m = (y1 - y0) / (x1 - x0)
Standard form of line:
y = mx + b , where m is the slope and b is y-intercept
1. (2, 0) and (3, -3) = (x1, y1) and (x2, y2)
m = (0 + 3) / (2 - 3) = -3
2. The slope for x = 5 is undefined. It doesn't exist because x = 5 is a vertical line, and vertical lines don't have a slope.
3. Plug that right into your standard line equation! m = 2, and b = 3 so
y = 2x + 3
4. This time we need to solve for the y-intercept. Plug in your points and solve:
y = mx + b
0 = 7(-2) + b
b = 14
So
y = 7x + 14

1. m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) where 'm' is the slope.
(-3 - 0)/(3 - 2) = m = -3
2. When x = 5, you'll have a vertical line running up and down the y-axis at point 5 on the x-axis. The rule is: The slope of a vertical line is undefined and the slope of a horizontal line is zero.
3. Use the equation y = mx + b, where 'm' is the slope and 'b' is the y-intercept. You say the slope is 2 and the y-intercept is 3, so plug them in. Answer: y = 2x + 3.
4. Similar to number 3, except this time you have the x-intercept in the point (-2, 0). You also have the slope. Take these two figures and plug them into the equation "y = mx + b". You'll have
0 = 7(-2) + b. Solve this to find 'b':
0 = -14 + b
14 = b
Then take the 'b' that you now have, and the 'm' that you already had, and you'll be able to plug them into the y = mx + b equation to get:
y = 7x + 14
