I've got the implant but I'm still bleeding?

I've got the contraception implant and I've had it for 9 months and I'm still bleeding, haven't got pregnant off it, thank god.

I'm a smoker and I smoke weed not very often tho like once a month not even that. I don't know if smoking has anything to do with it, but all my mates that have it they came off about a week of having it and I'm still bleeding after 3 months of having the implant I was told to take the pill with it,I did that for bout 2 months but it didn't work so I was told to leave it on its own Let it take it's time but its taking forever for it to get rid of my period. It has been none stop bleeding since July, does anyone know what to do?

    Hi Laura,

Smoking weed probably doesn't help the situation. Any toxins in the body are going to make it not function correctly.

I had the implant from early march until mid July and I didn't stop bleeding once! It caused me to become very ill, I went from 9 stone 3 to just under 8 and half stone. I had so many urine infections so times I couldn't even walk, it made me throw up and cramp all across my stomach and occasionally I would feel a burning sensation in my arm where it was! Not to mention i was spending a fortune on tampons and pads!!

I went to the doctors and got it taken out. She explained how it reacts differently in every female!

Some woman will be totally fine and as soon as it goes in, periods stop. Others like us are "bleeders" and its just continues and there is No way of saying if it will ease or not!

I was recommended (before becoming seriously ill with it) to take a certain tablet used to stop woman's periods on holiday. The weaker version didn't do anything but the stronger version worked a treat for about a week before practically adapting to the hormone!!!

Speak to your doctor they will be able to advice you further! Don't hold anything back! Tell them everything!
