Do you give Mayweather credit for fighting Guerrero?

Do you think this is a legit fight? Is he cherry picking?

Update:

Gabriel - When you pick opponents past their prime, or pick small guys moving up or choose guys that complement your skills then you are cherry picking and Mayweather has done that since leaving the Lighweight division. Once he hooked up with Al Haymen he has been exclusively cherry picking. A great fighter fights the best guy out there or the next best guy available. I actually give Floyd credit for this one, I dont think Gurrero has the tool set to beat a prime Mayweather, but a Mayweather who is 36 and absent from the ring he may just pull it off, at 36 any night could be Mayweathers bad night. I think its a good fight but he will always be held back from the greats list because he avoided Pacquiao for so long.

Update 2:

Flash Knockdown - Yea I know the argument that he is just better then everyone, I used to make the same case for Jones Jr, but in Floyds case its not true, he ducked a prime Mosley that was willing to back to 135 or a catch weight of 140, Floyd never did it, he also avoided Pacquiao like the plague. So that will hurt him big time and is why you cant use the argument he is just better then everyone.

I'm one of FLoyd's biggest critics, but honestly, this is a pretty decent fight. Guerrero is still probably a natural lightweight, or 140 pounder, but he's proved he can compete at 147.

Of course there's a lot of other guys I'd rather see Floyd fight, but I understand boxing is a business, and the fight has to be sellable, and since we can't get Canelo/Trout-Floyd, or Martinez, or Pacquiao, this isn't nearly as bad of an opponent as a lot of people are making out.

Guerrero is a very solid boxer-puncher, with a pretty complete skill-set.

He should at least make Floyd work for the victory.

So nah, I wouldn't say he's cherry-picking, but simply picking the best viable opponent for the time being, even if there are better match-ups out there. And yes, he should get SOME credit if he thoroughly beats Guerrero.

You have to give a man credit anytime he steps into the ring. Mayweather's problem may be that he is skilled enough and defensively oriented so he makes fights look boring. Guerrero is a tough fighter with decent skills, but not really on Mayweather's level, then again, in terms of skill and ring smarts, who is? I think that Mayweather makes a balanced decision. He takes on opponents that are potentially tough, but that he thinks have enough flaws that can be exploited for him to win. I would not call that cherry picking per se, but he and his team are smart about the business as well as the sport of boxing. Every fight is legit. Guerrero is not a push over. He is determined to go in and make it a fight. That said, I don't know that he has all the tools to do so against Mayweather's style.

Let me say this, this is ok, a legit fight.

But having said that, the only way for Guerrero to win is if stays on his feet til the end of the fight and if they get the judges that worked the Bradley-Pacquiao fight.

We all saw what Guerrero just did to Berto. How about this if Guerrero had not beat Berto and Floyd fought Berto instead no one would have had a problem. Floyd is just a better fighter than these guys right n ow but he is getting older and all it takes is a little slip.

    Yes.

Guerrero is holding his WBC title.

    Guerrero called him out.

Guerrero is top 10 at Welterweight by the Ring and boxrec.

Guerrero has an impressive win streak.

    Guerrero isnt with Top Rank.

If Floyd did not fight Guerrero and fought...Malinaggi or Alexander people would say he is ducking him.
