Why are people so against sequestration?

I think Ryan Seacrest should be castrated. Who would be against that?

Update:

@wtinc: lefty? I am right handed... although when I played baseball I could hit left handed fairly well. All you Obama bashers can't enjoy a joke unless he is the punch line. Oh well. Oops I made a joke about Seacrest and I didn't make fun of Obama. Bad me.

    Funny pun!

  • Love the pun. That was great.

Republicans are trying to avoid sequestration because they will (as always) be blamed loud and wide for the ill effects of cutting spending on anything. The homeless will come out of the woodwork, the military will die for lack of funds, science will stop, bridges won't be built, aliens will launch dinosaur killing meteors at the earth, and we won't be able to stop them - and it will all be the Republican's fault (there may have been a little sarcasm there). Seriously, because the statist R's don't want to cut the military or their pet programs, and the liberty minded R's are concerned that they will once again be excoriated for any cuts that occur.

Democrats are trying to avoid sequestration because they cannot abide the idea of cutting the rate of increase (there are NO actual cuts) in social programs/vote buying plans/pork projects.

In all seriousness, a total spending cut of $85 Billion in a budget of about $3500 Billion is not going to have a significant impact. The biggest impact is the ~$40 Billion cut from the Defense budget of $690B, which is about a 6% cut in the 2% increase, or 4% cut, as opposed to the $45 Billion cut from all other budgets of $2800B, which is a 1.6% cut in the 6% increase, or a 4% increase - NOT A CUT.

These dead lines, are becoming so old hat... Most Americans, are going to pay little, to no attention... But if Republicans continue, holding America hostage, for political points... Republicans are ultimately, doing themselves no favor... Republicans, are finding themselves having to blame the media now... Because media, is reporting on Republican stupidity.. Only enforcing Bobby Jindal calling the Republican party, the stupid party...

They are going to be very damaging to the country but that is probably the only way we are going to get any meaningful spending cuts
