Im starting to think you are a Pain Pill seeker. This is the 2nd question of yours I ave answered on the same Subject in 10 minutes. Going to the ER is not free, even if you get Charity help you still have to pay part of the bill, and cover the prescriptions. You are not Guaranteed to get a Prescription for 14 Pain Pills.

The emergency room cannot turn you away but it will most certainly not be free. You will have a large bill if you have no insurance. The ER and hospital won't give you free medicine. All we do is write the prescription and it has to go to the pharmacy. For one pain medicine is extremely expensive without insurance. 14 pills could cost hundreds of dollars depending on what they are. The higher a pain reliever the more expensive without insurance and no pharmacy will change that price. The hospital itself literally has no control over that. We don't hand the pills out here, just the written script that you take to the pharmacy. Second of all emergency rooms are very choosey with who walks out with a prescription for pain medication. A lot of people come in seeking them and without a valid reason we simply won't hand the script out. I understand you're in extreme pain but as others have said if you tell them it's a chronic problem they will most likely just give you a shot of pain medicine while you're in there and you'll leave with a script for prescription ibuprofen or mild muscle relaxers and be told to see a doctor. In the end you'll probably end up with nothing and a 2000.00 $ bill without insurance. Your best bet to get the proper medication and treatment for chronic back pain is paying to see a physician. It will cost less and be more effective in the long run. Hope you feel better soon.

It won't be for free, you will need money for the prescription they write, even if you are not charged for the ER visit. Even if you do get the meds, this is not a long term solution. You have to figure out what is wrong with your back. Does exercise help? Does heat help? Did you pull something? narcotics only cover up the issue, and they don't last.

I assume you live in America. If this is the case, you have no chance of a free ER visit, and even less of a chance of a free prescription. I suggest that you move to a country with a more socialised view on healthcare. This is America, and we simply cannot allow everyone to be equal. That sir, is communism I believe.

PS: I'm sorry you're back hurts. It sucks a LOT. I've been where you are.

If you are really having back pain that is this bad, you should go to an orthopedist and fix the problem, rather than drug-seeking at the ER. They don't take kindly to that...trust me. Go get the problem fixed rather than drug-seeking.
