How to do well in philosophy class?

So i'm taking philosophy for the first time this year, and i'm bombing it. I'm used to getting 90's but philosophy is just killing me. we've already covered epistemology, and i still don't know the difference between idealism, rationalism, materialism, and all that other stuff. we just finished reading meditations. thank god we read it in class, because that stuff just went right over my head. and now we have to write another essay, but i have no idea how to write an essay for philosophy because i bombed my first 2 already. Please help! i know this was just a rant, but any tips would be very appreciated!

Treat it like a history class. Know these old dudes - who came up with this stuff, keep track who is what style. Memorize the terms and definitions. It is not for everyone, a lot of Air zodiac signs might enjoy this class and take it out of fun, not credits (that would be me). Aquarius, Pisces, Gemini.
