Car mirror replacements:?

Just got my first car and never owned one before so I'm clueless as to what to do..

The driver side side mirror got shattered when I was bringing the car in the garage (newby fail) and I need to get a replacement. I went back to where I purchased the car and the dealer said it will cost me $99.99 for the mirror and $160 to get it replaced!

That seems like too much for a simple mirror replacement! Even the cost of the mirror it self seems too much for something that costs less than a dollar to make.

The car is a Honda Civic 2012 and I'm located in Toronto, can anyone tell me what I should do? I've purchased the authentic mirror for now but haven't opened it yet so I can still return it!

Thanks!

Update:

Only the mirror is damaged, the whole assembly is not damaged.

If it's just the glass that broke a glass repair shop can cut and mount a new piece for ten bucks or so.

If you broke the housings too, you gotta spend the money! A dealer will charge 2-3 times what a smaller independent shop will though. If it needs painting to match, that will cost extra as well.

Look on youtube & follow the Answers given for using glass shops and parts places.

I've seen complete outside mirrors for Jettas or Passats @ $500 [no typo], plus installation; some Mercedes @ $7xx.

OK, noob, I'm going to say this once. YOU screwed up, so put on your big-boy pants and own up to your mistake!

That part certainly does NOT cost "less than a dollar", LOL! You're a spoiled brat driving a brand-new car so just get it fixed properly.
