How to prepare for the IB program?

I've decided to continue to the IB program, but I don't feel very confident going into the school year. I understand that it's an extremely demanding program, and if i continue my work ethic from grade 10, i know that i'm going to crash and burn. I procrastinate too much, and i just work too slow (it takes me a while to understand things). My question is, how can i better prepare for the program, and what can I do to improve my work ethic? I need to possess the willpower to do my work right away because I'm not particularly bright, hard work is the only thing that's going to keeps me afloat.

Thanks

I just finished 11th grade in the IB program and yes, it is quite difficult. However, if you make sure you stay on top of all your work then it is manageable. Some classes will be much harder than others (usually sciences) so prioritize those. I mean the biggest thing for me was GETTING HELP. like if your teacher has office hours go into those or form a study group with your friends or people in your class because that help can mean the world sometimes since it stops procrastination. And as nice as procrastination is, really try to just come home and start your work or begin your IAs a week in advance....good luck!

Hi, I am in the same position as you, preparing for the IB is tough especially because there is hardly any information on the internet. What I am doing is subjects which I will do for IB. IE: since I am doing: HL: Chem Maths English SL: Economics Latin Biology Since I am in Australia I will do all of these VCE in Year 10, so I will be prepared for it. Another thing you really need to prepare for is TOK: Theory of Knowledge. There are heaps of links on that. It's basically an epistemology course (the philosophy of knowledge and philosophers brought it about). Read up on that and you'll be well prepared for it. That's what I am doing. Also definitely keep your soccer. Part of IB requires you to do 150 hours over the 2 years of Creativity Action and Science, so Soccer would be great for that. Hope this helps.
