9x^2 - 4y^2 - 8y + 32 = 0
=> 9x^2 - 4(y^2 + 2y + 1) + 36 = 0
=> 9x^2 /36 - 4(y + 1)^2 / 36 = -1
=> x^2 /4 - (y + 1)^2 /9 = -1
=> (y + 1)^2 / 9 - x^2 / 4 = 1
It is North - South opening hyperbola with center (0, -1)

9x^2 -4y2 - 8y + 32 = 0
==> 9x^2 - 4(y^2 + 2y) + 32 = 0
==> 9x^2 - 4 (y^2 + 2y + 2) - 8 + 32 = 0
==> 9x^2 - 4(y + 2)^2 + 24 = 0
==> 9x^2 - 4(y+2)^2 = - 24
==> (y + 2)^2/6 - 9x^2/24 = 1
