People in western civilization live longer, are better educated, less prone to disease and can het thongs done faster and more efficiently than ever before. Sure we are more prone to distraction but that is a direct result of having better technology than was available in the past. Grandpa says the fifties were the best decade ever because modern society looks on such quaint times with nostalgia. Television is trash because there is bettter access to technology. It is cheaper so anyone can afford it. The fact that there are forums like this where anyone can give an opinion regardless of who they are is a representation of GROWTH. Sure a lot of folks are trashy but that has always been the case. The u.s. and Europe are going through economic instability but this is an adjustment. The world is moving from a western centric ideal to a vastly expanded and more complex world centric view. Is western civilization on the decline? No. It is simply going through an evolutionary period; a change in focus, purpose and scope. If western civilization is declining so is eastern. This is because the world is better connected by the day. Humanity grows and changes. Once it adjusts to a the new reality that this world is now smaller and more tightly intertwined in a more complex and beautiful way than ever before we will be expanding into an enlightened age such as history has never seen. The perception that thongs are on the decline stems from a narrow and xenophobic world view. Once people get over petty differences and start understanding that which they fear the whole of humanity can reach the level of true civilization. The earlier comment about ghandi saying western civilization would be a nice thing actually showed where his own world view was narrow and ignorant. He asserted that his own culture was superior. People need to get over that hump and realize that everyone has something to offer someone else. You may be Tue best at one thing but you are the worst at something else. Civilization is not on the decline...it is just evolving.

AP World History is normally extra rigorous. It usually entails extra studying, a extra complex textbook written on the institution stage, a heavier paintings load, and tougher classwork. You will have to without doubt take AP over Honors if you are up for the task. AP offers you the possibility to take a nationally administered examination in May, and when you do good on it, you'll be able to probably get institution credit score for it. AP categories are most likely extra stunning to your prime institution transcript; faculties like to look that you are taking essentially the most complex path load to be had to you. Honors World has a tendency to be little greater than the elemental prime institution historical past path. There's relatively now not a lot to mention approximately it.

I like the story (probably apocryphal) about the reporter who asked Gandhi, "Mahatma, what do you think about Western civilization," and Gandhi replied, "I think it would be a good idea."
