Start Menu problems XP?

After running for a while, the start menu, the thing that comes up when you click start, lets you get to 'My Computer', 'My Documents', 'Control Panel", etc, starts to act strange. It will open, but disapears right quick, unable to click on anything. It works fine for the first four or five minutes then just starts doing this not letting you click on anything mode.

Update:

My task bar on this computer is visible at all times, it is just when you go to the start button and click it, the little menu that appears does not stay up long enough to do anything. You can access the start menu by your keyboard, second key from the left on the bottom of the keyboard, doing it that way has the same results.

I don't remember exactly how to do this, I'm using Win 7 now...

Right click 'Start' at the bottom, and select Properties. From there you will be able to tick (or untick?) a box to 'unhide' the taskbar, which makes it visible all the time.

    Good luck.

Your computer came with instructions. Now is a great time to read them.
