My cardio ruined for good?

is my cardio completely ruined?

i had an ankle sprain about 2 weeks ago and it's still showing no sign of healing damn it

so i'm just wondering

i'm not that fit but I worked pretty hard to build up a decent base in the summer for cross country season but now that i'm most likely gonna miss at least half or more of the season ( probably will take 1~2 more weeks to heal my doctor said)

i'm really furious so i'm wondering how much unfit i got

my 10k time from july was like 47~48 min and i've pretty much been bedridden (inactive 95%) for 3 weeks and 1~2 week more

would i even be able to run a 10k after recovery?

The beauty about fitness is the effort to regain to the same level after a period of inactivity is much less than when first trying to achieve it. Let your ankle heal completely before rushing into it. If the doctor didn't indicate any more serious damage, then try the RISE method (Rest, Ice, Stabilize, and Elevate) to see if any inflammation subsides. Good luck.

i think ull still be able to do it because even though i sprained my ankle and was out for about 1 month, my time for a mile dropped from 5:05 to 5:30. But after i started training excessively and running about 3-4 miles as fast as i could, my time improved. so i think youll be fine just keep on working :)
