What should I do? (Boy advice)?

I'm visiting my hometown (I moved away) and I started having this thing with a guy but then he started acting distant after a few days of hanging out/sneaking out/hooking up. I'm trying to figure out why. I asked before and he said it was because he liked me but I'm leaving soon and he doesn't know what to do when I leave. Then that night we hung out and made out and stuff. But then he started acting distant again and we haven't really talked. One of my friends thinks he's just saying that because he's afraid I'm going to get attached and want something from him after I'm gone.

So do you think he actually likes me and is afraid of getting attached and then me leaving like he said? Because all I wanted was to have a good time with him while I'm here. Or do you think he thinks I'm going to get attached and doesn't want me to expect anything from him. Or has he just plain lost interest in me?
