What is wrong with my fish? It's eye is huge and black and swollen.?

It's a little black skirt that we've had for a couple of years now, miraculously.I call it my little mutant, because it somehow lost all of its color about a year ago, and has survived changing aquariums and water with absolutely no upkeep (long story..). My Mom says she had a friend whose fish had the same problem, and its eye popped. I don't want that to happen! I want to help my little fishie if I possibly can.

Please Help!!

There are two issues reported here. The biggest problem is the popped out eye you mention. Its probably a bacterial infection. See link below for answers. You'll probabaly need an erythromycin antibiotic powder.

As for the loss of colour, thats actually a normal thing for tetras. They can change tehri colour to their surroundings. If you switched to dark gravel or pebbles, he'll start to go darker again.

    Good luck!
