Should I study full time or part time - Bachelor ECE?

Advice please! I am going to enrol to study at Auckland Uni extramurally. I have a daughter in her second year of primary school and I want to balance family and study time. The problem is that I haven't done any uni courses before and I don't really know how much work is involved. I'm thinking of enrolling in 3 courses per semester (part time is normally 2 courses and full time is 4). If anyone has done a Bachelor Ed ECE, I'd really appreciate some advice about what you think a mum could handle while still having time for family.

Your idea to start with 3 classes is a good one.  It will give you a feel for how much you can handle.  It's very much an individual matter because everyone is different.  Think of it as one semester at a time.  That will make it easier because you will know that it's only for a short time, and you can always change your course load next semester if you need to.  You will find that it depends on what classes you take too.  Some are easy and it will be no problem to take 3 or even 4 at a time, but others are far more difficult and you may want to take only 2 per semester when you take those classes.  Your advisor and fellow students will help guide you as you plan for each upcoming semester.  Also, some people thrive under pressure and you may find that you enjoy the challenge, and some people fall apart and need to take it slower to be successful!  I wish you the very best of luck.  I totally enjoyed school.  I worked full time, took 2 classes at a time, and raised 3 kids at the same time and loved it all!  Look at it as an adventure and a challenge that you will be proud of in the future!
