MS Word 97 Users, need help here.?
My father in law is starting to send emails using an Open Office Word processor document as an attachment. My word 2002 will not open a file he sends me. Now the question I have. If I can convince him to start sending .doc files, what should he save the file as? Should it be in the 97 or 92 format of .doc?
Would it be just as easy, if one exists, for him to send a file conversion program along with the email?
He is sending these emails to Politicians of all stripes and all kinds of bureaucrats also. It is my open he should be sending these documents in a more readable way.

"Save As" ".Doc 97"
Also get him to tick the "Save As By Default" button.
After doing this he only needs to hit "Save".
