Question about the 2006 Devinci Chicane?

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2006 Devinci Chicane used for $600.  I am very athletic but totally new to cycling and have never owned a road bike.  I understand that the bike is decent for someone new like myself but I am curious about the price.  From what I've found in other cycling forums, others have purchased the same year, make and model for around the same price but several years ago.  Can someone tell me if the price of this bike in 2010 is slightly too high?

Much too high a price for this bike unless it has barely been used. For not much more you could buy a brand new bike from a major manufacturer with comparable or better components
