Lemonade in French...?

Why is it that the French for lemonade - limonade - is so close to the Engliah, instead of being 'citonade' or similar?

    La limonade (fizzy drink) and la citronnade (still from lemon pressed). Both word are right but you have to know which you mean before asking for a lemonade though if you prefer a still drink! Both words are feminine.
