intel is the manufacturer
core is the architecture(basic design, feature set of the chip)
quad ..references number of execution units/cores (4 cores on 1 chip ...4 "brains")
Q8200 ...to me is a model number.
2.33GHz is the speed. 2.33 billion cycles per second
has no listing for the cache..but quick google search ..lists it at 4MB L2 cache. which isn't bad, but isn't face melting.
it's a 64bit processor... which basically equates. to a CPU that can communicate with much larger amounts of RAM.
seems to be for a 1333Mhz FSB mobos... which means it prob has a 2ish multiplier. ...which. FSB references the speed. at which the CPU can communicate with the other system components. multipliers... eh. don't really mean much. except. that's how CPUs run faster than mobos. but multiplying the sys clock.
and it's a 45 nanometer lithography. so... the little transistor thingies are pretty tiny.

You have a quad core processor (4 processors on one). The "Core 2" part doesn't mean "2 processors;" it's the chip's series. [there are Core 1 chips (just called "Core," though - and only used on laptops), Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 as of now.]
In Windows XP or later, if you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and choose the tab called "PERFORMANCE" within the window which pops up, you should see 4 separate graphs showing the current load on the processor. (4 processor cores, so 4 graphs).
Source(s): The name of the chip is the Core 2 QUAD, per his question. - ScottLv 71 decade ago
You have a Quad core processor...1 physical processor with 4 seperate cores....Twice that of a dual core cpu...

you are having a quad processor in your computer which mean there are four hearts inside one processor.if stretching its function to full extent,it may perform (2.33 times 4) Ghz speed but for multi-core processors, the frequency of using many core at same time is low.it usually use few core and that make users feel not as fast as its number appear.

CPU's are foremost facet (except mom board) If you're upgrading, be one hundred% certain your mom board helps that CPU you wish. Intel are best, however far more costly than truthfully wanted. You would pass with the i7 in case you obtained the additional two hundred-three hundred dollars VS AMD Take a browse at AMD. Just make certain your CPU is three.0GHz quad center or extra. (i7 does have faster spice up and is a well factor to have, however now not fundamental)
