my chinchilla is spoiled!! help!?
I have had him for a couple of months now, and we are very close. He is not at all afraid of me. He even jumps on my face and sits there. But, I think I have spoiled him. I let him out of the cage for at least 9 hours a day (supervised!) and he barks at me when I try to put him back. I think he is so used to being out of the cage that he gets angry at me when it's time to go back. Is there anything I can do???

Lol, Yes he is deffinately spoiled!(: I would say try leaving him his cage more during the day, and getting him out for maybe an hour or two of supervised play. Make sure you give him plenty of treats while he is in his cage so he associates his cage with treats which = good thing. Then maybe he won't be so against going back in!
Good luck and have fun with your Chinchilla!(:

Ya,thats 2 much freedom 4 1 chinchilla! When we owned chin chillie beans(thats what I call em.=]) we only let them outta the cage for 1 hour,MAX! 9 hours is way 2 long 4 it 2 be running around. If he has a good sized cage w/diff levels then I suggest you only let him out for one hour the most. If it's a small cage then 2 hours. But if you keep this up he will start getting nastier. So cut him down to 1 to 2 hours a day of freedom.

You have not spoiled him by any means. If anything, you could be taking better care of him, to be blunt.
Chinchillas are highly social animals, naturally desiring to live in large groups. A single chinchilla you will never find. Because of this nature, it is unpleasant, depressing, boring, whatever you wish to call it, for them to sit in place alone for ANY amount of time. Taking him out for 9 hours daily means 15 hours of complete solitude time. This is not how a chinchilla should live in the wild, its social and mental stimulation needs are simply not being met.
I suggest you look into getting him a companion of either the same sex, or opposite as long as one or the other are spayed/neutered. Your chinchilla will greatly appreciate a companion to have living with him 24 hours of the day, and you will quickly find him calming down with the "anger" or rather aggression he develops because he isn't properly socialized. Granted you will still be taking them out for some good hours during the day, but they will be find in the cage as well.
Good luck :)
