If I got two fancy mice about the same age and one lived its life span and the other is old is it ok not to get another mouse?

I want pet mice but am afraid I would have to have mice forever (see scenario above) because mice need other mice.

    That's fine. Female mice do needs friends but at some point one will be left alone. Its unrealistic to expect someone to have mice indefinitely. If you want you can always keep males. They need to be housed alone (unless neutered).
