would a protective order against abusive parents allow a hospital to withhold info on a child?

such as the child's location, attending physician, etc. as a means of shielding the child and his/her doctors from further threats? In other words, how would one legally keep a child's location secret from abusive parents if it was felt they posed a threat to the child and those treating him/her?

I think that the child would have to have another guardian first, and that guardian would have to get the protective order. Once a guardian is appointed, then that guardian can make the decision as to who the information is released to.

That's not enough. You need to alert the admitting department at the hospital to place the record under a restricted/confidential status. Depending on the hospital, the name may be changed, but access to the record and release of information is monitored.
