What are your thought on this article, or just on the topic of homework?

Especially the learning/education should be fun angle. I think then that the natural progression of this line of thinking is that work should also be fun.
I think Chris B has a point. Plus I think too much emphasis is put on the teacher's and not on the student's taking responsibility for their own learning.

i don't disagree with not having homework as long as the kids have a study hall type class to do their schoolwork at school, I mean the teacher talks for so long in class (which is what they are supposed to do) and then sends the work home with the kid where they will have more time to do it.. it is a good system. the problem is the parents let their kids dictate the evening routine, they cannot say no, do not play that video game, and some parents won't get off the computer long enough to help the kid with the homework, so therefore nothing gets done.. if they kids did the work at school that is great, but if it is ALL lectures and no workbooks or anything then that is where I would draw the line..

Whatsoever, practice makes knowledge perfect. Without homework or practice, all knowledge is just "dog barking"

Homework won't matter if the teacher assigning it has no clue what she is doing.
