How can you finish homework fast?
I never get my homework done that night. Any tips to doing all in about 2 hours or less. If it helps i'm in tenth grade and my teachers all give me homework for reading (read a chapter and write a summary), biology (only a worksheet), art (yes i have to draw every night), geometry (about 40 problems must draw diagrams and show all work), and history (different every night)

I feel sorry for you! I don't assign homework to my English students, but ensure every day there is ample time for them to complete their assignments in class (after their 20 mins of class silent reading!). It sounds as if your school subscribes to the 'homework is good for them' philosophy, which frankly, is assinine and not even vaguely pedagogically sound. However, that doesn't answer your question!
Answer: your ability to complete this work in your time limit will depend on a few factors, namely your own organization, reading speed, and intelligence, You can improve your reading speed only by reading, so doing it a lot will help you finish ALL your homework very quickly. Divide your work in a way that works for you- hardest to easiest, medium-hard-easy, or whatever. Better NOT to leave the hardest for last when you're tired and less able to concentrate. Consider doing assignments in different places so it's not too boring. For example, I do all my reading in the bathtub, so it doesn't feel like homework. Can you do those easy biology worksheets during lunch hour? Can you do the drawing in front of the t.v.?
Popular theory says that when you sit down to work, you should turn off the tv, the iPod, etc particularly if subjects that require focus. Iconfess that when I am marking or developing lessons after school, I turn on a CD (currently Twilght or Glee). When I hear that music, I know it's WORK time and it actually helps me focus. Also, I have songs that are my 'break moments.' Take breaks between subjects as a little reward for your diligence. Be sure to get up and move a little every 15 minutes or so. It oxygenates your brain and improves your ability to concentrate. Walk up and down the hall, throw a ball for the dog for a couple of minutes, do 20 jumping jacks, etc. If you're getting bogged down by something, change to another subject, do something physical, and then come back to it.
You can also challenge yourself, "I will do this question in 2 mins" and set a timer. Celebrate your successes, particularly at improving your reading speed.
Good luck. I hope next year that you attend an enlightened school that provides real learning and doesn't just give you 'busy work!'

See if you can't sign up for a study hall next semester (if your school does that) that way you will have less homework, and extra time to do what you need to do!! Other than that all i can say is if you have time during class to do it, then try to get what you can get done during that time. Also, talk to your teachers/counselor about any suggestions that they may have for you to get this done properly. You don't want to rush on it then get a bad grade because of it!! good luck
