Is there a fine line between......?

Reflux and being a frequent "spitter upper"?? My niece and nephew both had reflux as babies, and my husbands cousins 2 children both had it as well. My daughter didn't, although she spit up no more than "normal" and now my son has his days. He's almost 6 months and I never really questioned it until now because his spitting up seems to be coming more frequent and has more of a barfy smell to it. There are some days he barely does it at all and some days it seems half of everything he eats comes back. When I first started him on solids it was pretty much gone, now we're back to square one. He will only sleep on an incline, has since birth, but he has been sleeping ALL night since about 7weeks. He has a very healthy appetite, loves his oatmeal and other cereals, inhales his fruits and is on formula. He goes for his 6 month check in a week or so, so I'll be asking the Dr, I'm just looking for others experiences with reflux and what you did to help with it.

Update:

Oh and he's only had 2, "power pukes" in 6 months, so that's not frequent. (I heard it is with reflux)

Update 2:

No, he only cries when he's hungry. My mother in law says he has 2 moods --- happy or hungry lol, he's ALWAYS happy and smiling unless he's hungry

Reflux would cause pain, and make baby unwilling to eat. Or he might be spitting up so much that he loses weight.

Spit up milk almost always looks like more than it is, so if he's happy and gaining weight, no cause for concern. Just keep a lot of spit rags handy.

You would defineltley know if your son had reflux, reflux is very painful for a baby, and your son would cry alot, be in pain, and be very upset during/after a feed.

Spit up does not mean that your son has reflux, some babies have silent reflux and dont even spit up.

If your son did have it, i think he would be showinf signs long befour now most babies have it soon after borth or some weeks after.

Though i would ask your doctor about him being sick, may be allergic to something.

Good luck, it dosnt sound as if your son has reflux x

The big thing is does he cry when fed? If they are spitting up to much do to the acid reflux, it will burn their throat and they should be on med to prevent.

    Hey,

I was a acid reflux sufferer. I followed this natural program http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=568

I feel much better now. Now no more hearthburns!

    I hope it helps

my youngest was a pukey baby and technically had reflux - i used to say she'd nurse ten minutes and give me back five.

my doctor said she had a weak stomach valve and an overly sensitive gag reflex but no treatment necessary as i was breastfeeding.

things guaranteed to make her puke: putting her in the car seat; holding her around her middle; coughing; breastfeeding (she never really puked up solids much at all).

at 13mo, it started to decline and was finally gone around 16 months.
