Christians: can we claimed any good works?

Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Whatever works I have done, I have done with the hands and the Spirit He gave me.

The actor in both those texts is God, who is the Author of every good work.

Now, even the unregenerate can do 'good', this is called God's common grace, but not 'good' that will earn him/her any merit with God.

Luther argued that it is because of Christ that we are now 'free to do good works'. The Christian is free to do good, knowing with full assurance that when we fail, there Christ stands in the gap. Because Christ's righteousness is credited to us, we now do good for His glory.

i do things every day without god. why give the credit of your hard work to some guy you can never be sure exists. why should you believe something with no proof anyways wat is the benefit... you think he will watch over you protect you. millions of people die every day why wasn't he watching over them.
