Wanting to leave Methadone clinic?

In a effort to get away from pain pills I went on Methadone at a treatment center, I have been trying to wean myself away from this drug for nearly 6 months now. I started out at 30 mg. a day and am down to only 5 mg. a day, anyone who has experienced coming off this low of dosage I was wondering if the Withdraw was severe or what should i expect? Should i continue to drop till I reach 0 or walk away at 5 mg.?

You have come this far. You have suffered enough already, don't you think? Do not walk away now. You have such a short period of time to go. Ween yourself completely and continue with a support group. This is very difficult, but you can do this. Walk away clean. You owe it to yourself for all of the hard work that you have done. I hope that this has helped in some small way. I am proud of what you have done and wish you all the best that life has to offer.

I would personally say walk away. That's a very small amount. I was on 4 mg doses of hydromorphone 6 times a day for 4 1/2 months and I just stopped one day. The worst withdraw i went through was some acne. If you're having a really bad withdraw you can always seek out help again, but the withdraw isn't going to kill you. Seek out medical advise for this question.

Personally I never just walked away per-say,I just have a severe problem with methadone in general.I took wayyyyyyyyy more than I even should have.I myself went on suboxone,I had NO withdraws at all, also NO cravings.I still take suboxone 16mg a day,I told another person on here about this and they responded very negatively.Maybe go to another doctor,it must be a doctor who has a special license to be able to dispense this medication.I'm in New York so it's very easy for me to get the help I really need.I also hope it will be just as easy for you as it was for me my friend. And maybe you can walk away from only 5mg.This I suggest strongly, for 5mg is really nothing but we are all very different especially in the ways of these types of medications. One person will act and react totally different than another....ect....ect...1 more thing I just read "ole' slick *****" sorry man...just a funny name is all....heheheee. But he is EXACTLY right here,if you can walk away.....walk away................the withdraw should be much if anything at all...............again...my best to you....
