How do I get rid of cigarette smoke in shoes?
I just bought some stylish 'new to me' leather shoes that were previously owned by someone who probably died of lung cancer. They reek. I'm storing them sealed in a plastic box on a bed of baking soda, and they still stink. I'm worried I'm going to absorb nicotine through my skin while I wear them! What should I try next?

Isn't smoking a wonderful addiction?
Clean the shoes with saddle soap inside and out.
Wipe down inside and out with 1 part vinegar/1 part water solution; let dry.
Wipe down again with Nature's Miracle (pet store product-enzymatic cleaner for killing organic smells); let dry; repeat if necessary.
Rub in inexpensive leather conditioner to soften the leather.
Then do the baking soda thing again, but with a new box.
If they still smell get used to being called "Stink Foot".

The baking soda technique may take a couple of weeks but must be in a sealed plastic bag. Then take them out and vacuum them off. Now try some white vinegar or apple cider vinegar(ACV). Based upon their color. Apple cider vinegar is great for removing gas from your hands to the ACV is desired. Color test first. You will need to spray with a spray bottle or old hair spray bottle. Let set to dry and then spray again. Dry completely and put in the sun for a few hours. Then you might need to try the baking soda process again.

try ozium after you wash them. it takes any kind of odor out of poruos stuff. you'll find it at a tobacco shop definately and maybe at walmart or meijers.
you didn't ask this but i should tell you that wearing used shoes isn't the best idea. shoes become molded to a person's feet and since no pair of feet are the same you can give yourself serious problems.

Why will you buy shoes from someone that you don't even know. Take them back and get your money.

Urine does the trick. Pee in your shoes.
