Macedonia is the northen region of Greece, so it's simply one naming.

    "Megas Alexandros" Μέγας Αλέξανδρος

    (mEh-ghas ah-lEh-xan-dhros)

His actual name was Alexandros o Megas (Αλέξανδρος o μέγας) or Megas Alexandros. Is a Greek name which other countries changed to Alexander or Alexandar etc. But for them is just a name without any meaning.

In Greek it has a meaning as do all the Ancient Greek names and it means the protector of men.

    We Macedonian speakers say:

    Александар Македонски = Aleksandar Makedonski (Alek-san-dar Ma-ke-don-ski)

    Greetings from Macedonia

  • Aleksandar Makedonski
