American Idol's Adam Lambert holding back??? Amazing YouTube video makes me think so. What do Adam fans think?

I love Adam on Idol. I love how he goes back and forth between the big Glam Rock Axl Rose/Sebastian Bach/Vince Neil (by the way, was Vince Neil in the audience tonight. I swore I saw him. If it was him, I bet I know who he was there to see) - type performances and the stripped down ballads. I never know what to expect. But then I found a YouTube performance that made me wonder, even after all we've seen, if he's actually holding back. So I just thought I'd share the video and see if other Adam fans feel the same because I personally think it's AMAZING. If he's saving something like this for the big Finale song, I feel sorry for whoever has to go up against him :p.

I grew up on the whole LA Metal scene, so I love that Adam reminds me of all of the frontmen of that era, especially Sebastian, who was my fave of the whole genre. But having said that, after watching "Is Anybody Listening?", I think I almost prefer the big, theatrical style for him. For a second while watching it, I almost compared him to my fave male vocalist ever, Freddie Mercury. I never thought I'd ever think to compare anyone to him, especially someone from American Idol, but,to me, this guy is that good. I'd love to hear him do another Queen song, like my fave "The Show Must Go On" or "Somebody to Love". Then I'm sure no one else would have a chance :p

this one is a cast performance and I think he outshined everyone else on the stage (including the star, Val Kilmer), just like he does on the Idol stage.

    I haven't watched it YET but I do have to ADMIT for the First time this entire Season Adam performance touched my heart. I LOVED it! I never doubted his vocal talent BUT I've never been a Fan because I don't like his over the TOP flamboyancy. I'm NOT a huge fan of Axl Rose/Sebastian Bach/Vince Neil and maybe that's why I'm NOT a huge fan of Adam. I totally 100% LOVED him tonight. Awesome!

    I knew it! I just watched the YOUTUBE and I've been saying this entire season Adam would be PERFECT on Broadway or in Musicals. I think he can be as Flamboyant and OVER the TOP as he wants. On the other hand tonight I thought IF he could make an album that is like tonight's performance you bet I'd buy it!

    I'm NOT into Heavy Metal/Rocker! NOT for me!

    I don't think Adam is necessarily holding back purposely...I think its more like you said that he could just be saving it for the big finale. He is just so awesome.

    I noticed him right away during the auditions of AI and picked him then as my favorite this season. :) And he hasn't disappointed me yet. Each performance...I keep thinking it can't get better...but then the next one just outshines the previous. He has such star power that if he doesn't even end up with the title of American Idol 2009...he is going to continue to live his dream...and that is to preform - he was put on this Earth to do just that....

    These clips of him in The Ten Commandments gave me goosebumps...he is just so good.

    I agree too when you said about Sebastian and Vince (LOVE THEM SOOOO MUCH TOO) - he has that power...and I just love watching/listening to him!

    i agree with you, he's f***ing brilliant, his voice is superb and there is no denying it! he deserves to win, and will be a star no matter what! if you can sing live in front of crowds in a musical you have to be good!!! he's great EVERY week on idol, everyone else has flopped at least once or twice!

    i think that adam is the most amzing singer ever. he is super hot too. lol
