Hmm, any thoughts on this?

To Winter in March

I walk through snow-dusted streets

alone, her face gaunt and skeleton like,

sunken cheeks heralding approaching death

Grey umbrella of sky has no form

or character, it is close and infinite

at the same time

Shoulders hunch slightly in response to the cold

but jacket is unbuttoned,

heroic statement

optimistic resolve

More snow falls but it is whimpering, dying—

the grey skies are clearing

(whether you can see it or not)

the grey skies are clearing and soon

she will again return to dust

and annual slumber

But for now I reach out my hand and

marvel at the delicate touch of a single

flake which kisses me softly,

a final farewell

turning to tears

and sweet water.

I'm in a condition to answer now: Glad you kept it open.

It sounds like a bittersweet lament to the end of winter. But don't you want that? But isn't snow pretty?

You know what? In a few months, we will be wishing for snow. I hope I have seen my last flake for now.

This poem is a lovely tribute to winter, also know as Old Man Winter.

You feminizing it, makes it softer. Very nicely written.

    Last two stanzas, yep.

I love the looks of winter, can't take the cold so I too mourn the loss of winter as spring breaks forth all around me.

    This is excellent!

Loved it. Winter is beautiful, yet I won't be sad for sun and warmth. That's the kind of guy I am. The last stanza was killer by the way.

I thought I was going to have to stop reading after a few lines. My grandfather is in the hospital and dying of cancer. I contined, however, and glad I did. "Annual slumber" made me think "circle of life" and I found a smidge of peace here. Thank you.

You need to get over this attraction to Winter! lol I liked the ending two stanzas.

Your writing is very graceful; as is, Winter fading into Spring.

I'm glad I walked with you through all the stanzas, at first I thought

morbid......a fool-er this is, a lovely farewell to winter's beauty.

But I do welcome Spring, more so this one then any other.
