Any thoughts on this idea, it's pretty cliche I know, but sometimes cliches exist for a reason?

Lines of Futility

I wonder if it’s possible

To let everyone have their say

Or if it will all devolve

Like it did today

Can everyone not learn

To stop sometimes and listen

It’s better to bring together

Than incite division

Sometimes silence is perceived as acquiescence.

I grew up with "If you can't say something nice - then don't say anything at all". I know - that this doesn't apply to everything - but 90% of YA does. If you do not agree on here - then just move on. We are in the world to "do no harm" or "to leave this place better than when you came" - these are cliches that have long been overlooked ♥

I've missed whatever sparked this verse

But see it in your opinion

Trolls and low-lives are a curse

No hope with them for union

They only know how to destroy

    It is their greatest pleasure

Blank them out and thus you can

    Avoid them at your leisure.

I have extended the hand of friendship to such as these, only to find it mauled....once bitten, twice shy (Iano doesn't understand when some-one is trying to mend fences, or does perhaps but prefers to live in the shadows)

You forgot the lines about how:

    1. we are hostages here and we can't leave, or stop reading

    2. we can't violate someone who is abusing a space that 13 and 14 year olds are spending a lot of time in.

Otherwise I feel chastised an educated by this piece.

    Thanks.

I think I'm moving to Switzerland.

Good poem though - cliche is ok when it's used for a good purpose.

  • Divided highways are a good idea, I think.

I like your poem, I like the sentiment,

and sometimes I get run up on the median....

Lines of Futility, aptly named indeed.

It IS futile to look the other way when

a back handed slap is there to meet you.

I agree. But hey, you can't try and befriend both.

    Trust me.
