Are you gonna miss seeing Sterling Marlin in the 500?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=txmarlind... Seems like he had become a tradition at the Daytona 500. I'm kinda shocked that he couldn't find a ride.

I like Sterling and I am one of them folks that doesn't like change or to see the old-timers get older and loose a ride. I adore Sterling and hope wish him luck this year and in all the ones that follow.

Sterling had his time in the sport, but now, I think running part time is good on his part. I realistically don't see Sterling running many races this year. He's a good guy, and loves a bologna sanwhich like I do (he does!), but his prime is behind him now. Hopefully in upcoming races this year, we'll see Sterling make a good amount of starts. It hasn't been the same since he left Chip Ganassi Racing. Then Bobby Ginn turned haywire on everyone and fired practically the whole Ginn Racing team, leaving Sterling out of a ride for quite some time now. But, at least he has his two Daytona 500 wins to cherish.

Not really. Well since FOX mostly never focus on drivers except when they're having a top 10 day or on the bubble of top 35, I'm not worried of Sterling but finding a ride is serious. There's a bunch of teams like Nemco, who doesn't have a decent driver. He still have something in him.

  • yes I am. And though he hasn't done so awfully well lately (putting it mildly) He won the first Daytona 500 that I ever watched...1995. So I will miss him. I always looked for him in this race and now he won't be there. Sad.

It's a shame not see the "big names" of my youth race any more in the 500. But can't honestly say that I'll miss him....haven't really noticed him the past couple of years. But I do hate that he could not secure a ride. Definitely think he can still the job done.

    Just an opinion as always.

That is not cool. I like seeing Ol' Sterling in the 500 and I will definitely be waiting for his next race.

Well I am sorry that he couldn't find a ride for Daytona, but I agree with the prez, he hasn't been very competitive in the last few years, not even going to realize he isnt going to be there.

Not really but I sure did laugh when he hopped out of his car under a red flag to pull the sheet metal off of his tire at the 500 several years back.

I think with all the economic changes and team/sponsor issues we are gonna see more of this, I am sure he will be missed, it's really always someone every year gone but never forgotten!

Yes I will miss him very much. I hated it when Sterling pulled the fender on his car and cost him a win.
