Active fetus leads to irritable baby?

I have seen a similar question posted here before, but this one is a little more specific. There is research that suggests that a fetus that is very active in utero from 32 weeks and beyond tend to be more irritable and fussy as babies (and poorer sleeper). Did you find this was the case either way? What about colic? Finally, did you find this behaviour lasted beyond babyhood?

Personally, my first was very active in-utero, and was an intense baby and poor sleeper (with colic). However, while still active, he has become easy going and sensitive to others. I am 22 weeks pregnant with potentially a little girl, and she is more active in there than her brother was! I am wondering if I am going to follow the same pattern!

Just curious about your experiences from the parent community.... thanks in advance!

All 3 of my kids were hyperactive pains in the ribs(LOL!!), in-utero. I thought my 1st was hyper, but my 2nd and 3rd were crazy!! I thought they were going to kick their way out on a daily basis.

But contrary to whatever that study said all 3 of my kids have been beautifully peaceful and calm babies. They were/are only irritable when overtired which happens to all babies eventually.

Even teething for my older two wasn't a problem. None of my children have ever suffered from colic.

My girls were great sleepers as babies and my son was a bit troublesome at 3 months but now at 7 months is fine. I think it was just trying to adjust his sleep schedule with the girls school hours.

My son was SO active in the uterus, he kicked morning, noon and night.

Generally he's a really good baby, good eater, sleeps well generally very good. The only thing I could say is he can be a bit grumpy when he's overtired and needs to be put down in his moses basket/cradle when he's too tired.

  • no my son was a gymnast in utero, and i couldn't have asked for a better baby. all the doctors commented on how active he was.

he still is, but he is very happy, pleasent, and tires himself out by night time!

ETA lulu, your son sounds exactly like mine!
