Should I quit my job now?

Okay so to start I am 17 and working retail so it is really busy in these coming weeks. Basically where I work I have a co-worker who absolutely hates me (talks about me to others). And she treats everyone else like crap. I can't take it any more (i've worked there for about a year and a half) She is the only one I can't work with, but the others just stand around and talk about how drunk they were on the weekend, or how they made out with 7 guys last night (I work in a baby store so it is all female) There is only 1 person who actually works and I don't mind.

Right now I am acting as a supervisor/trainer without a new title or pay and am sick of all the extra work and poor treatment. However, we do receive a bonus if we stay till Dec 29 (around $300) But, if I quit then I won't be able to easily find a job as it is after "season" The only reason I am still there is because of the good schedule and I like my managers.

not sure what retailer you work but if there are multiple locations, maybe you can request a transfer or request shifts where she doesn't work. otherwise, bring it up with a manager if you and this problem employee aren't able to come up with a mutual solution on your own. just get your work done and ignore the gossip. easier said than done, but if you let it bother you, it ultimately affects your productivity. which may affect any merit increase or promotions, or even just keeping your job. it's not worth it.

that or find another job, but not a good idea to quit your current job until you find a new one. you may have to suck it up and deal with this problem for a while, but the costs of being out of work far outrun the costs of staying put. good luck

I know exactly how you feel. I work in a busy retail store, and have also been there for a year and a half. For the last 9 months i have been given more and more work load, which is unrealistic given the time i have to complete it. Other employees who work in the same section are allowed to work as a team, and don't have as many responsibilities as me, and have been told not to help me, even when they have finished their work on time and are just tidying up.

I get no more pay than they do, but am getting increasingly tired and frustrated at being singled out. Even the other employees are starting to ask questions as to why this is happening to me.

The only reason i stay is because i simply havn't found another job yet; as tempting as it is to resign right now, i will TRY to stick it out.

    Good luck ok?

    Cheers.

  • Stick it out. I know exactly how you feel and you shouldn't quit unless you found another job to move to.

Any place is going to be slightly busy this time of year and working with all females...well..someone is bound to be a b*tch once in awhile. Just look over it, do your job, get paid and keep looking for something else on the side.

The best thing for you to do is stay at that job and find a new one.

when you get a new job quit.

don't just stay for the $300 is that 300 realy worth getting up and going to a job where you have to deal with people you don't like.

life is about what you want don't settle for something you don't like life is to short.

    good luck.

If you like your managers then talk to your managers about this problem employee...

it sounds like you are putting yourself it the drama. I find that if you dont get youself involved then people wont involve you in the drama. SO.... get yourself out of the drama!

Go to work... dont interact with the other staff unless of course you have to.. dont be a ***** to them just be professional.

Dont leave your job. talk to your managers and let them know that this employee is being unprofessional. Maybe they can talk to her and fix this.. if that dosent work then get yourself out of the drama and get to work!
