faint OPK and clear line on HTP?! -HELP?
My boobs have been hurting today so I figured I had on OPK test strip so I might as well try it. Well it’s been about 10 minutes and I was looking and looking and to the untrained POAS eye they would say negative but to most of us, after taking apart the test and holding it up to the light and staring for about 5 minutes I swear there is a very faint line!
I even took a pg. test to make sure it was not my eyes or mind (hey if I was going to imagine a positive it would be on the preg one!) but no such luck.
My only problem is I do not remember when I bought those tests and the ex. date was on the box which I threw away a while back.
I’m doing to BD tonight just in case but has anyone ever got a SLIGHT positive on a OPK??
Next question, I do not think I am preg. I think I’m ovulating but I never noticed this before and since I opened a POAS lab in my bathroom (lol) I noticed something weird. Has anyone ever seen a clearish line in the test area on a preg. test?!
I’ve never seen it before, it was clear but a line I don’t know how to describe it! lol
Anyone ever saw that, just wondering what it was/is!
I jave PCOS and have VERY irregular periods so I am not sure when my next one is due.
thanks for the answers thus far just a few side notes:
the almost clear line on the HPT came up right away. It was literally a line with no color! Hard to imagine!
My OPK test you must wait 10 minutes to read. It is the same kind RE uses and that is where I got them from. I have never in 6 years of TTC ever got even the slightest line on my OPK so this is a HUGE 1st.
I know that the lines must be equally as dark for OPK's but they (at least the kind I have) are suppose to grow darker and darker as you approach ovulation (just found the box!) so getting any line is a start towards ovulation!

Honestly, the line on HPT sounds like an Evap. A line that formas after the time limit.
The line appeared after the 10-minute time limit. Is it still positive? No. You can't rely on any test results that appear after the time limit. There is a reason the tests have a time limit-- and torturing us is not usually that reason ;) If a line appears in the "results" window after the time specified in the directions, wait a couple days and test again. HPT's are rapid assay diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid-- after this time, natural changes in the chemicals may cause lines to appear.
Hope this helps!!

Like they said, an OPK is only positive if the test line is AS DARK or DARKER than the control line. Every woman has some amount of LH in their system at all times, so on an opk a faint line is normal all the time. As for a pregnancy test, a line is a line no matter how faint or dark.

You should not read test lines after 10 minutes. And there is no such thing as a slight positive on an OPK, the test line should be AS dark or darker than the control line. If the line is lighter than the control, it is negative.
