Restraining order question?
In august of 2008 I was granted a restraining order against my ex boyfriend, he was physically abusive on several occasions, it is due to expire next week and I was wondering if anybody knows if I am able to renew it or not?
I plan on calling the courts tomorrow, but I just wanted to prepare myself for what they may say, so please no rude comments.

Yes you can renew it. Just remember that he can contest it and might show up in court. Just let the judge know how you feel and if you still fear for your safety then definitely let the judge know that.

That depends on your state's laws. Usually, the one you have the restraining order against has to attempt to harm you or threaten to harm you again before the judge will grant a new restraining order.
Call the Clerk of the District Court's office at your county courthouse. They should be able to tell you more about restraining orders or at least put you in contact with the people who can advise you.
