cassette tape recording both directions same time?

I have several boxes of lecture notes on cassette tape that I would like to transfer to mp3 files.

I am currently using a tape recorded plugged into my pc sound card but it is a very slow process. Just wondering if there is a machine that can record both sides of the cassette at the same time. I know one side would be reversed, but if there was such a machine I would figure there would be software to reverse the backward recording so that it sounded normal.

Maybe I'm dreaming, but does anyone know of such a machine?

back in the 80s there were cassette players that worked at double speed, if you could get one of those from eBay it would speed up the process.

no because you are limited to the pickup head of the cassette deck. you could always reengineer the deck to add a head, put it in upside down to pick to the other half of the tape.
