George’s first recording was “There Ain’t No Money In This Deal.” The record was recorded at the home of a friend in Beaumont and was released on Starday Records. This was followed by five other unsuccessful releases. But it was a different story in 1955 with the release of “Why Baby Why.” The song became a top-five hit and remained on the national charts for over three months. Since then, George has had over 175 chart singles and has recorded nearly two hundred albums. During his 40 years of recording, George has recorded for six major labels including Starday, Mercury, United Artist, Musicor, Epic and MCA. These were the only labels that George had recording contract with even through you will find over a hundred other albums on various labels. George never recorded for those labels. With the help of the Country Music Foundation in Nashville, I have been able to compile a list of his albums and singles.
