Public Speaking Tips?

What are some good tips for public speaking to help you relax? I have to make a short presentation in front of my peers, and I get really nervous whenever I speak in front of large groups of people. What are some tips to help me calm down and do the presentation well?

Breathe! Chill out and focus. Speak confidantely and clearly. As if your talking to your friends. Don't let fear get to you. The worst thing when watching a presentation is when someone is flipping out! Just relax and speak with assurance. Do not chew gum! Last week a girl in my class was doing a presentation, and her gum fell out and landed on my teacher's shoe. not pretty.....

    GOOD LUCK!!

I can kinda help with that question because last year when I was in 4th grade we did I speech contest well we are still doing it this year for 5th but I won 1st place in my class and so I went up to school contest and I was a nervous reck! I took long deep breaths and looked at people I was comfortable looking at like my mom, teacher, friends and people I am close too.

P.S. Good Luck! You will do great

Most important thing to do is breathe. Look at people in the audience, and talk. Have note cards to help you with your speech so that you don't forget anything or get confused. Know your topic enough so that you won't get nervous. (The last one really does help). And finally, practice a lot!

A trick I learned was to look at something other than the people directly but not just straight down because that looks back and people cant hear you very well that way...I always focused on something in the back of the room, like the wall, or a picture, that was behind the audience so it looked like I was looking at them but really I wasnt...if I did look at them, it was only breifly...good luck :)
