How do I find downloaded programs by date?

I just downloaded something from the internet and it put them into a zip file and I have no idea where they are.. And using explorer doesn't show them . I have no clue what they are filed under and how to access it. The download was different than usual and I am worried that they have downloaded much more than just the program.. Please only answer if you KNOW how to do it. and give specific instructions... I don't want TRY this and download that...

Update:

I did a system restore back to Fri will that remove all downloaded programs I installed today??

    Using Internet Explorer 7:

    1) on the left, click 'History'

    2) drop down History (using the small arrow) and click 'Search History'

    3) type in part of the file name, or ending (like .zip)

    4) 'Search Now'

    5) you'll have two results, one from the website and one where it was stored on the computer.

    6) hover your mouse over the file, it will tell you where the file was saved on the computer, use Windows Explorer to navigate there.

    7) click the other file, it will take you to the website, and download again, but be sure to hit 'Save' then choose a location to where it will be saved, like 'Desktop'

Or you could open a command window, and type:

    cd \

    dir *.zip /a/s

That will give you a list of .zip files on your computer, scroll until you find it.

My guess is the file was saved to a temporary folder, and that's why it disappeared.

If you ALWAYS save every download to the Desktop, you will never lose a file again. You can always move the download to a different folder later.

Read each screen carefully and choose the Desktop, before you commit to the download.
