Where can I buy the light for a lava lamp?

I live in the lower mainland of British Columbia and have tried Walmart and London Drugs, where I bought them. Neither carried the lights and they burn out quickly. I have also tried specialty lighting shops with no luck

Try looking on the internet. There are some lightbulb sites that I believe have those.

I couldn't find an exact replacement of the original bulb so I used a 40 watt high intensity bulb and it works fine.

Take it apart and see what kind of bulb is inside and then go to a big hardware store and buy a replacement.

My LavaLites use 40w appliance bulbs, same as for use in ovens. Most hardware stores should carry them.

The manual tells you how to order bulbs from them. Mine does anyways.

It's difficult to say without any specs on your lamp. But most hardware stores carry many of the harder to find bulbs. I would try there.
