What's the most boring name you can think of?

Well, my name is David... most people consider that one of the more boring names out there cuz of how common it is.

Are the most boring names all common? Are there unique names that just sound boring?

i actually really like the name david :]

[as long as you don't go by dave]

    john

    joe

    fred

    rebecca

    ashley

    lynn

    marie

i think that the most common names CAN be boring. its because they are overplayed and most have stereotypes with them. however, the most common names of these days

    [anything rhyming with jaden]

    [mc names]

    [nevaeh]

    etc...

are unusual sounding, yet SO common, which in turn will, turn into boring johns and joes.

India abounds in boring and exciting surnames - and your question reminded me of a nice joke. I'm trying to share this.

An Armyman deployed on the Kashmir border receives a telegram that his wife gave birth to a son.

Seeing him deep in worry his friends ask him the reason. He replies "I'm worried about the surname for this boy - you know I had been home for only one day in the last nine months and my wife is very beautiful ... I just wonder how many fathers this guy has"

His colleagues come out with suggestions.

If it's a case of two fathers: DWIVEDI ("Dwi" means two)

If it's a case of three fathers: TRIVEDI ("Tri" means three)

If it's a case of four fathers: CHATURVEDI ("CHATUR" means four)

If it's a medley of fathers: MISHRA ("Mishra" means mixture)

If the mother is shy and does not give this information: There's SHARMA: ("Sharma" means ashamed)

If the mother hides the information: There's GUPTA ("Gupt" means secret)

... and there's also a surname called HAZARIKA ("Hazar" means a thousand)

... I do not think many people can beat that one for family names.

Any name that isn't something that has a joke or idiom attached to it, and is common, is boring. At least you've got Davey Jones locker attached to yours. But what about Steve?

All girl names are boring until one is attracted to you.

David wins, it is boring. Sorry buddy. I'll buy the first round of drinks at the local watering hole to help you forget your name. Come to think of it, that happens to me sometimes too, forgetting my name. <grin>
