Nope. Chances are, you and your spouse were the cause of your divorce. Don't blame a kid. That's just stupid. Every marriage that involves teenagers is going to go through tough times. All teenagers are evil at one time or another. Your marriage just couldn't survive.

How could your stepchild have been the cause of your divorce?? I can see where a stepchild can be somewhat bothersome at times, but you can't blame them for your problems. You are the adult and need to deal with it as an adult. I'm sure you can sue him/her, but it won't get you anywhere. Nice try!

Not for the divorce, but if your ex sued you for a divorce based on malicious lies told to your ex by your stepchild, then you could sue your stepchild for slander (saying that, "Because my stepchild told malicious lies to my ex, my ex sued me for divorce, costing me money.).

However, I doubt you would win. The fact that your ex would believe your stepchild over you shows that the marriage was already doomed to failure.

What do you want out of them? Do they even have any money? It's a case you're not likely to recover anything, as a practical matter.

If you're just really angry, time will help that. It's never only one thing that leads to divorce.

Standard lawsuit answer: You can sue over practically anything. However, you are unlikely to prevail in court when you sue over something stupid. Is this something stupid?

No. Your marriage was the cause of your divorce.
