Fantasy NBA: Impact of Rookies?

Al Horford seems to be the only rookie so far starting and producing decent numbers (well atleast with rebounding).

I thought Thornton was going to start at the PF spot with Brand out, but he's benched behind Tim Thomas and Ruben Patterson. I thought Brewer was going to start for the Wolves, but he's benched behind Gomes (who's playing well enough so far to keep his starting position). Thought Green was going to start for the Sonics, but is benched behind Wilkins who is playing very well so far. Conley Jr. hasn't even touched the court yet, and there were early talks that he might have started over Stoudamire from the get-go.

I know it's rare for rookies to have any fantasy impact right away... but I was just wondering what others thought about guys like Mike Conley Jr., Al Thornton, Corey Brewer, and Jeff Green... and if they're going to get starters minutes soon, or if they'll all be just bench warmers their first season.

i think that brewer and green will get theres soon. they are on young teams that like to run so you need body's. plus they are scorers. its harder to use a point gaurd who doesnt know the offense. as for mike. his dad was a coach so he can play but he has been in odens shadow his whole career. maybe he cant play with out a big man?????? but if the other guys are out there i say take a gamble pick them up and in about a week or two they will be putting up the numbers on losing teams.

It's just way too early to tell, man. I'm as surprised as you probably are that Conley Jr. hasn't even touched the rock yet, but it's just so soon in the season - coaches want their young guys to get comfortable with the little things first before throwing them onto the court.

I think Thornton and Green will make an impact before the others, but not for a good few games yet - and none will be worth owning in many Fantasy leagues for even longer.

    Good luck!

So Kevin Durant is not a rookie...what kind of retarded rant is this...

Kevin Durant - 23 pt/gm, 6.0 reb, 2.3 ast, 1 stl/blk.....and it's basically his team to lead in the future.

I don't get it....he might not hold those numbers, but guaranteed he can pull 18 pts/gm easy...

if you took a glance at Jeff Green's fantasy numbers, you would see why the Sonics WILL NOT start him.

Usually people dont lead off with rookies unless they have to, look at Aldridge last year...eradicate playing time...

ROOKIES USUALLY DONT IMPACT TIL NEARING END OF SEASON, OR NOT AT ALL....
