I'm taking my family to Egypt. This will be a once in a lifetime trip. We will have 3 days in Cairo and a

week by the red sea, besides the obvious (pyramids, sphinx, market, old cairo) what shouldn't we miss?

it would be cool, and note that old Cairo, al the great mosques, the meuseum and the byramids are located in a very poor areas & will walk by the most misarable people, I hope they get better in life but they are agrriseve, smelly & some how dangerous but they know that tourists are untouchable in Egaypt so don't worry much, telling you that only in order not to consider that all Egyptian are like that, and if you came to Alexandria which have lots of treasures of it's own and I work there now, I would be more than happy to take you & your family to the best places & restaurants, just contact me through yahoo if so

wish you good luck & happy days here in Egypt

first i really would recomend a good guide book and some reading before you go. take taxis arrange with a local taxi driver to take you where you want to go. always sort out the price before you go in Egyptian pounds for the trip. you may want the driver to return for you or take a new taxi each trip. but this is much cheaper than taking tours with the tour company. Usually the drivers are very helpful and can tell show you where you buy the tickets. the exception to this is the museum where he will have to drop you off a little way away as the road is closed to vehicles. but he will point out where to go and it is only a few yards. Go to the Egyptian museum, that's where all the Tutankhamen's tomb goods are and it is a wonderful place, but you will need to take water. there is a small snack bar to the left of the museum entrance but its pretty basic. you can easily spend a day there, but it is exhausting and it will depend on your enthusiasm for the ancient history. Tutankhamen's things are upstairs and lunch time is usually the quietest time to see them. dont miss the jewelery room where the mask is, it is at the back of the museum, upstairs and the rooms to the left and right of this room are also full of interesting things too.the other objects are in the long corridor on the left side of the museum. and across the end of the museum. Also upstairs are the mumy rooms (extra cost)

down stairs there are many fabulous staues and things to see. for me the rooms and corridor on the right downstairs have some fabulous things to see. in the evening i would go to Khan el khalili the medieval shopping area its great fun. on the other days, the pyramids and sphinx of course and enjoy a really good work around the site.

on your third day i would reccomend the sites at saqarra and memphis (its about an hours dirive) the step pyramid the oldest pyramid in eygpt. and many other things such as tombs and other pyramids and what is left of the temple.

there are many other places to see around Cairo but i am not familiar with them.

On the Nile water, Cairo is well-known for a unique history, maintained in the incredible medieval Islamic city and Coptic websites in Old Cairo. The Egyptian Museum in the centre of city is vital see, with its numerous Ancient Egyptian artefacts because number trip to Cairo would be total with no visit to the Giza Pyramids, and to the regional Saqqara Pyramid Complex. In Cairo you will see: The Pyramid of Cheops (also named the Great Pyramid or Pyramid of Khufu), the greatest chart of the Giza class, and its interior of slim passages could be explored, though there is not much to see, except a plain tomb step with an bare sarcophagus. Directly behind the Great Pyramid is the Solar Ship Museum, which shows one of many ceremonial solar barques discovered in the area that's been painstakingly restored to their unique glory. just three days! you might be a little overwhelmed. i spent last summer in cairo and although im from a big city it took me a few days to get used to the crazy traffic there. but anyway, in terms of cairo i would say dont miss the bargaining possibilities at Khan al Khalili (if that isn't what you meant by market). if you are really into ancient Egypt then I would def check out the Egyptian Museum. Lastly, Al-Azhar and Al-Houssein mosques (right near Khan al Khalili) are worth seeing.

each and every Christmas we drove from Portland, Oregon to Sacramento, California (in the present day by way of) to bypass to my dad's brother and relatives. there have been 7 human beings (5 youngsters) in a Buick sedan. It grew to become into noticeably crowded! there's a mountain selection between Oregon and California and my dad believed that tire chains have been for sissies, so we used to have some noticeably hair-elevating moments on those journeys. The longest trip, although, grew to become into from Oregon to Maryland, to work out his father and mom, different siblings, cousins, etc. Maryland grew to become into the place maximum of my dad's relatives lived. We did no longer have the money for lodges, so we camped out each and every evening of the trip. We additionally did no longer have the money to devour in eating places, so my mom made nutrition for us alongside the way from groceries we bought at small markets. We discovered a great style of "highway video games" on that trip! I undergo in strategies it being greater of an journey than a hassle, inspite of the reality that immediately's youngsters could no longer truly be waiting to think of a visit around the excellent U.S. and not utilising a single digital gadget to entertain them. (This grew to become into in the previous due Forties.)
