How can I remove the green algae on my turtle's shell?

Lately green algae developped rather quickly on my turtle's shell.

I'm wondering if I should wash it with a cloth, but I'm afraid to hurt or stress it.

What do you think?

Use an old toothbrush and just scrub away. That is assuming you don't have a soft shelled turtle. Don't use any cleaners on your turtle! Good luck!

You could simply brush it off, or you could buy something to kill it at a pet store.

Or you could just leave it, as it won't hurt the turtle. Wild turtles often have algae on their shells. But, algae tends to form on turtles that don't bask frequently. Your turtle should have a basking platform.

Got your local pet store, and buy algae suckerfish, or algae control tabs. they are white tablets shaped as a turtle, and you put it in to the tank and let it disolve.
